Failsafe has been activated. Without an alert, the Batfamily has been attacked by a high tech robot looking for “Justice”. Is this the doing of the Justice League? Is this an anti-Batman robot designed to eliminate him, was he to become so much of a threat? Zdarsky gives us no peace or time to recoup as we just finished the war with Deathstroke Inc and the League of Assassins. After the Penguin’s death, Zdarsky has shown us he is not afraid of killing whomever needs to be dead for narrative purposes. Putting us on the edge of this story as we come closer and closer to the DCU re-set paved by the Dark Crisis event.
Art is led by Jimenez, Morey and Cowles. As always, great attention to detail and excellent depiction of movement and perspectives with a masterful use of panels. The change of colors is subtle enough to indicate different scenes but close enough to stay within the same palette. I don’t think we can get enough of Jimenez’s Batman.
Cover B by Alex Garner with a style that mixes digital backgrounds and hyper realistic style that resembles old fashioned oils. Looking forward to his next cover for Batman #127. The cover is playful and almost takes us to a time where running atop Gotham was fun. Almost. Definitely a masterpiece.
