Batman Catwoman (2021 DC) #12A

Batman Catwoman (2021 DC) #12A

The much anticipated Black Label series Batman/Catwoman has finally come to an end. The series was very well executed. Interesting enough, a very dark and romantic story. Through Bruce’s death, we experience the love and commitment Cat and Bat had to each other. Every flashback exposes more and more the interactions in that weird triangle between Batman, Catwoman and the Joker. Every issue gets us closer to a magnificent chess game played by Selina outsmarting the Bat-family, including her own daughter. In the end, we fully appreciate the love Selina and Bruce had for each other. And we now understand how Bruce’s death triggered a revenge that had stopped Catwoman when marrying Batman.

The art is clean and very well drawn. The use of panels differ from each scene helping us to visually transition through the flashbacks without interrupting the fluidity of the storytelling. The art itself is minimalistic with special attention to face reactions and body language. The use of color is delightful and the lettering is on point.

Even if you are not  a fan of the Bat/Cat duo, this series is for you.
