Batman the Knight (2022 DC) #7A

Batman the Knight (2022 DC) #7A

Zdarsky surprises us with an unknown phase of the Dark Knight as we encounter some backstory between Bruce, Zatanna and her father. Bruce is faced for the first time in ages with a fear he hasn’t confronted. A journey to the unknown and the magical world puts his world upside down as he is tempted to give it all to darkness. It is refreshing to read a backstory that crosses over with other main DC characters.

The art team makes an amazing job with the narrative. Panels start in a classic setup with colors being dividing scenes. I liked the way the white background is gently minimized as the action peaks. All the way to almost become nonexistent and disrupting the panel setup. There is a special attention to detail and movement. Main action scenes seem to be still frames from a Marvel picture. (I would say a DC one but let's be honest about film quality here…)

A Cover by amazing artist Carmine Di Giandomenico (who seems to also secretly be working on a Joker cover).
