It will never get tiring watching Oroku Saki (Shredder) prepare to lead the Ninja Turtles. A metaphysical journey takes us through space and time as Shredder learns more from the Rat King’s recruited Trio of Horror: Krang, Baxter and Madame Null. The story itself is told in first person from Shredder’s perspective. While a very straightforward narrative, it is indeed laying grounds for us to understand what is about to come. The pacing of the story is just perfect as the next issue is to start the Armageddon Game itself once and for all.
Artistically, we go back to clean and well defined characters and the occasional use of abstract backgrounds. Except for when the Rat King appears as there is more detail and grittiness to his portrayal. Panels break conventions but succeed to tell the story. Scenes are very well defined by the different use of colors.
We got Cover A by Faro Pe. It is interesting enjoying two different styles created by the same artist. A normal approach to the inside art and a very beautiful and interesting approach to the main cover. Number one and number two issues make a gorgeous one full painting. Magnificent colors and body positions make an amazing surreal cover.
